Dr. Dixon dedicated ten years to serving as an active-duty Dental Officer in the U.S. Army. Throughout his military career, he was stationed at Fort Belvoir, VA; Fort Stewart, GA; Fort Sam Houston, TX; and Louisville, KY. He also deployed to the Horn of Africa (HOA) in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF).

His final active-duty assignment was as a staff orthodontist at Joint Base San Antonio–Fort Sam Houston. During this time, he also served as an attending faculty member for the Tri-Service Orthodontic Residency Program (TORP) and as an orthodontic staff member for the oral and maxillofacial surgery program at Brooke Army Medical Center.

Dr. Dixon began his collegiate journey at West Virginia University, where he briefly played football before returning to Las Cruces, NM, to complete his undergraduate degree. He then pursued his dental education in Kansas City, earning his degree through the Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship Program (HPSP).

Following dental school, Dr. Dixon was selected to complete his orthodontic training at the University of Louisville.
